2001년 4월 결성, 몇 차례의 멤버 교체 후 현재의 라인업으로 '시애틀 그런지'를 근간으로 한 사운드를 추구해오고 있다. 
 
Alice in chains, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Soundgarden등의 밴드들로부터 영향받았으며,
 
관계, 죽음, 개인의 어두운 내면 등을 연주하고 노래한다.
 
대중적인 성공이 언체인드의 지향점이 아니기에 스스로 즐기고 흥분할 수 있는 음악에 대한 순수한 신념을 바탕으로,

'나와 너, 그리고 우리에 대한 개인적인 이야기'들을 묵직하고 단단한 연주와 다크한 헤비니스 사운드에 담아내고 있다.

Based on the pure belief in music that can be enjoyed and excited by itself because public success is not the focus of Unchained,

"I and you, and personal stories about us," are packed in heavy, hard performances and dark heavy sounds.
